THE annual meeting of Sanskar Bharati Poorvottar was held at Srimant Shankardev Kalakshetra in Guwahati from September 11 to 12. The eight prominent sessions of the meeting were presided over by Shri Anand Mohan Bhagwati, Dr Krishnagopal, Shri Yadavrao Deshmukh, Shri Dattatreya Hosabale, Shri Shyam Sharma, Sri Nipon Goswami, Shri Arup Chakraborty and Shri Bimal Lath. A total of 61 delegates from Upper Assam, Lower Assam, Barak Valley, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya and Sikkim as well as special invitees from different parts of the country were present.
The main thrust of discussion was on taking up various projects for the children of age group between 8 to 15 years in all the eight states covered under the Vision 2010 project. The four fields of art comprising of dance, theatre, music and painting and sculpture would be covered under this project. After initial training in these aspects, competitions would be held under a definite time frame in all the 86 districts of the region-Arunachal Pradesh (16), Assam (27), Manipur (9), Meghalaya (7), Mizoram (8), Nagaland (11), Tripura (4) and Sikkim (4). Thereafter, winners of the district level competitions would participate in State level competitions. The State winners would then participate in the three-day mega event-Bal Kala Sangam to be held in December 2011 in Guwahati with participants of all the eight states.
To achieve the objectives of the project, a number of young boys and girls are coming forward to dedicate their time and energy on voluntary basis. A total of 26 such karyakartas have so far committed to this cause and have left their home and hearth to go to places as required. Some of them would dedicate 11 days, some 11 weeks and some even more than a year. As the work progresses, it is expected that the number of the volunteers would multiply.
The events at the Bal Kala Sangam includes, making of 1,100 metre long painting by 1,100 children and on the side lines 100 metre painting by 111 established artists; presentation of Dhyeya Geet and national song Vande Mataram by 1,100 child artists together; multi-lingual poetry recitation and classical music; presentation of various folk songs; presentation of classical and various folk dances; presentation of language theatre; and presentation of folk dances and traditional music instruments by 111 children.
Two cultural evenings were also held on September 11 and 12. About 30 child artists presented Dheya Geet and Vande Mataram. Two renowned artists, Shri Santanu Biswas (vocal classical) and Shri Tarun Kolita (Sarod) with Shri Dhriti Gobind Dutt and Shri Debashish Bhattacharya as accompanists were the major attractions of the cultural event. Shri Tarun Kolita is also the president of Guwahati unit of Sanskar Bharati.
