“IT is our collective responsibility to help the Vanvasi brethren to get the fruits of Independence as they also fought for the freedom,” said Kalyan Ashram national joint general secretary Shri Kripa Prasad Singh. He was addressing the annual meeting of PEEP, a voluntary organisation working in Kerala in association with Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram, at SKMJ High School Auditorium in Kalpetta on August 15. Representatives from 28 colonies where the PEEP works attended the meeting.
PEEP has been working for the last five years among the people of Paniya Vanvasi community settled in Wayanad, Malapuram, Kannur and Kozhikkode districts of Kerala. It works in 22 colonies in Malapuram district, 43 colonies in Wayanad district and 12 colonies in Kannur district. The focal activities of the organisation are free educational activities, conducting health camps and eye camps, distribution of essential medicines, awareness generation regarding various social problems like alcoholism and promotion of agricultural activities.
