Saksham celebrates Surdas Jayanti

“SURDAS was one of the saints who despite being a visually-challenged and much neglected person during the Muslim rule worked hard to preserve the Hindu Sanatan Dharma through his teachings and bhajans. All it was a heroic job. But he did not get the honour and pride that he deserves even today. The Saksham has done a good job of restoring the honour to such a great personality,” said Dr Sanat Kumar Roy, president of West Bengal unit of Saksham. He was speaking at a function organised by Saksham to celebrate the birth anniversary of Surdas in Kolkata. Shri Ajay Das, secretary of the West Bengal unit, spoke about the various activities going on in Delhi, Nagpur and other states for the benefit of differently-abled people. He said there are more than fifty million visually-challenged people in India. If the people start donating eyes after death a large number of visually-challenged people can see the world like all of us.
