Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) does not want to be in politics. It is not interested in politics at all. But it always wants to support those in politics, who strive to protect the national interests. Hindutva is the lifeline of the country and protecting Hindutva is the goal of RSS,” said RSS Sarsanghachalak Shri Mohan Bhagwat.

Shri Bhagwat was addressing the Vijayadashmi function organised by RSS Konkan Prant at Somaiyya Ground in Mumbai on September 21. Konkan Prant Sanghachalak Shri Upendra Mokashi also shared the dais. Nearly five thousand swayamsevaks in RSS uniform (ganavesh) and other more than five thousand supporters including women and children from all over Mumbai participated in the function.

In his 45-minute speech, Shri Bhagwat expressed views on many issues. “Today we are facing many problems. All the four borders of the country are insecure. Pak sponsored terrorism has made India insecure. If we have to tackle terrorism we will have to be strict and tough to our decisions and policies. Our external affairs ministry always insists on negotiations but Pakistan always threatens us rudely. There was a great difference between the Indian map on August 14, 1947 and that on August 15, 1947. But by our grit and determination, we can change this map in the next ten years. This insecure country is also in the midst of problems like unemployment, poverty and inflation. If these problems have to be tackled successfully then it is necessary to stand united,” Shri Bhagwat stated firmly.

Shri Bhagwat further said not just its leaders and government but every common citizen of the country should be charged by patriotic fervour. He said the RSS has expanded extensively over the years. It is engaged in running over 1 lakh 50 thousand service projects in remote areas. More than 60 per cent swayamsevaks in the RSS are below the age of 40 years. The RSS is the need of the society now. It is striving to organise the society so that the society stands independently on its own feet, he added.

He said the efforts to appease the minorities to secure votes are sowing the seeds of separatism in the country. “Once, a Muslim political leader suggested me not to oppose the Sachar Committee report. His justification was-Muslims were Hindus earlier. Instead of bhajan there is quawali and instead of idol worship there is majar. After hearing this statement I said, Please try to convince these views to Muslim leaders first and if they agree, we will not oppose the Sachar Committee report,” Shri Bhagwat informed.

He said the foreign rulers left India 60 years back but the swadeshi rulers have become weaklings and are engaged in the activities just to secure votes. He alleged that a state is not allowed to form a law against terrorism. The common man is the real master of the country. And if the situation has to be changed the common man, the Hindu citizens of this country, should be awakened. Every patriotic citizen who stays in this country is a Hindu. It is the Hindutva that infuses the feeling of self-respect and unity among the Indians. This has been stressed in the past by many great leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Subhash Chandra Bose and Pt Madan Mohan Malaviya. People like Abdul Kalam and Vergese Kurian have also supported the view that the common people in the country will have to be strong and organised. The RSS is engaged in doing just that,” Shri Bhagwat exhorted. (FOC)
