Tense situation prevailed at Chettikulam, in Kanyakumari district, after the RSS Office was ransacked and set on fire by some unidentified miscreants on July 17. Security has been tightened in the area. According to police, two unidentified persons stormed into the RSS office, situated at Chettikulam Vinayaka Temple Street, and attacked the office-in-charge, Shri Nagarajan. They poured kerosene inside the office and set it on fire before fleeing. Documents, papers and some furnitures at the office were also badly damaged by fire. It is suspected that the attack could be an act of vengeance by a youth, who was handed over to the police when he was found recording an RSS procession in March, on his mobile phone.
