In order to bring out creativity amongst the engineering college students of Andhra Pradesh and to encourage research thinking, a state-level technical exhibition under the title ?Srujana 2009? was organised by Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad from March 12 to 15 at Medical Hostel Grounds, Guntur. State-level competitions were conducted including working model exhibition, paper poster presentation and technical quiz. The venue where the programme was conducted was named as ?Acharya Nagarjuna?.
The inaugural session was attended by Padmashri Dr Narayana, former Director of Satish Dhavan Space Centre. He mentioned that during the 1960s, there used to be a competition between USA and former USSR in rocket launching but now India has grown and attained significant development in the field of satellite technology. Today, India has achieved development in the fields of communication, television and weather prediction. He said there is no dearth of human resources in our country and exhorted the students to evince interest for research in the technical field and propagate new ideas to the world. After completion of Chandrayaan Project, he said, ISRO would be making plans to send a satellite spaceship to Mars. In the fields of nano technology and biotechnology there are ample job opportunities for engineering students, he added.
Shri Sharma said there was no need for the engineering students to worry about job loss or about getting jobs due to global recession. In another 15 to 20 years, for getting jobs in India, even foreigners would be standing in queue, he added. A total of 102 working models were exhibited in the stalls allotted to the students. Many industrialists, educationists, professors and students visited the four-day exhibition. Shri K Raghunandan, joint organising secretary of ABVP, Shri PV Ramu, state president and Shri Subbarya Sastri, national executive member also spoke on the occasion.
