VHP president Shri Ashok Singhal threatened to launch a Jammu-like agitation if the National Security Act (NSA) invoked against Varun Gandhi, is not withdrawn immediately. He was talking to mediapersons in Dehradun on March 31.

He alleged that Shri Varun Gandhi and other people, who are raising the pitch of Hindutva are being arrested and their voice is being suppressed. ?In a democratic system, everybody is free to express their opinion. Let the society make a judgement and not the state,? he said. In this regard, he alleged that several Hindu leaders and saints have been put behind bars when they tried to raise Hindutva concerns. ?Cases have been filed against Sadhvi Pragya, Swami Hansdas and others and they are subjected to Narco tests in order to humiliate Hinduism, he said. ?It is strange that all those who favour Hindutva forces are being arrested and all those who suppress them are being rewarded in the country,? he said.

?The Government also questioned the existence of Lord Ram that too in a country like India where He was born,? he said. On Ayodhya issue, Shri Singhal said VHP wants the Parliament to enact a law for the construction of a grand temple at the disputed site. He said all saints have now come on a single platform to raise issues of Hindutva in the country and formed a Dharm Raksha Manch with active support of leading Hindu organisations like All India Akhara Parishad in this regard. ?This is for the first time that such a Manch has been formed in India,? he said.
