Since Hindus were mostly the victims of terrorists, it was natural for them to express their anger against UPA government that was mostly pre-occupied in distribution of appeasement packets to its minority vote bank. Then there was slight change. UPA government discovered link between Malegaon blasts to ?Hindu terrorism.? It was used to justify minority appeasements and to malign Hindu leaders during state assembly elections. UPA politicians echoed in unison for banning Bajrang Dal and VHP. It implied ?if Muslims are involved in terrorist acts so are Hindus!?
The terrorist attacks in Mumbai have again exposed UPA government that did not execute Afzal, the prime convict in the attack on Parliament. No other country except India has this kind of dismal environment. We are failing every where!
We have no clear cut national security policy for our country. More than 9600 Pakistani national that came as visitors to India have overstayed and are untraceable. There are about 1.5 lakh illegal migrants from Bangladesh. But we continue introducing more bus routes and Samjhota Trains that provide opportunities to infiltrate terrorists across our borders. Whenever stern measures are initiated against illegal migrants, vested interests and self-seeking politicians sabotage the effort. Terrorists like Sirajuddin are projected as victims of police brutalities. Even today, leaders of a political party in alliance with UPA government are arranging defense of terrorists being prosecuted by security agencies.
The failure of our foreign policy is evident as we have not been able to get them closed even in some of the so called ?friendly SAARC? countries. No Muslim country has ever condemned Pakistan for raging violent jehad in Kashmir.
It will only be a utopian illusion to expect Pakistan behaving like a friendly neighbor even in distant future. We must remember that an army such as Pakistan Army practices Quranic philosophy of war in its totality. Pakistan is under the control of Army and shall remain so for ever.
Media has compared the terrorist attacks in Mumbai with 9/11 blasts but the disparities are glaring. US reaction was spontaneous and effective, but we lag behind; have no will, and clear-cut policy. Therefore we continue to bleed suffer causalities and have been accustomed to forget the past.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh'sassertions sounded hollow when he said after Mumbai shoot outs that we will take strongest possible action…we will not tolerate terrorism?security has been tightened – and so on.
When life of ordinary citizens is not safe, it is shamelessness of the leaders to remain wrapped in multi layers of security and appear in public surrounded by commandoes. As a first step to assure the public, all politicians must shed their security cover donned at public expense. If they don?t, youth should make such leaders feel ashamed in public on this count. Who will be accountable to the families whose dear-ones have been sacrificed in their own country at the hands of militants operating on our soil?
It is sad reality that our selfish politicians have made our country insecure, security forces demoralised and anti nationals protected. They deserved to be removed from public life through ballot at the earliest. Shuffling of worn out Home Ministers and Chief Ministers is not enough. They should be made accountable for loosing so many lives every day.
Albert Einstein said, ?The world is a dangerous place, not because of those who do evil, but because of the people who don'tdo any thing about it.?
