Agitated sadhus of Delhi raised their voice against brutal assassination of Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati in Orissa on August 23, through a massive demonstration at Jantar-Mantar in New Delhi on August 29. They demanded immediate arrest of the culprits and their masterminds and complete ban on religious conversion in the country.

Addressing the gathering general secretary of Delhi Sant Mahamandal Mahant Naval Kishor Das said Swami Laxmanananda had put his whole life in welfare of the society and the Vanvasis particularly. Many schools, temples, health centres and Goushalas were built by him. He was against conversion. Many attacks were made on his life but he always remained calm and followed his path. His assassination is a handiwork of the Christian terrorists promoted by the missionaries. President of Sanatan Dharma Pratinidhi Sabha Swami Raghavanand, Kalika Peethadheeshwar Mahant Surendra Nath Avadhoot and Mahant Ram Krishna Das Mahatyagi were among other prominent saints who addressed the demonstrators. They later submitted a memorandum to President of India demanding immediate arrest of the culprits.
