The agitation for taking back the land of Amarnath Shrine Board has received the support of all nationalist people of the country. Not only Jammu, the whole country questioned the role of J&K Governor N.N. Vohra and has warned the pro-Pakistani forces to leave the country forthwith. Now even a section of nationalist Muslims joined the agitation and they too demanded restoration of the land to the shrine Board. A group of such nationalist Muslims left for a peace march to Srinagar from Delhi. RSS Sarsanghachalak Shri K.S. Sudarshan flagged off this group from Red Fort on August 7.

VHP and Amarnath Yatra Sangharsh Samiti activists staged a massive demonstration at Jantar-Mantar in New Delhi on August 10 to show their solidarity with the people of Jammu who are fighting for the Amarnath shrine land. The protestors said the agitation would continue till the land is restored to the shrine Board. Hundreds of saints also joined the dharna.

Addressing the gathering VHP general secretary Dr Praveen Togadia said if the land to the shrine Board and its autonomous status were not restored immediately, they would be forced to call for ?Aamarnath Chalo? and the country may be converted into another Ayodhya. Swami Chinmayanand from Haridwar, Acharya Dharmendra from Jaipur, Mahant Ramswaroop Das from Jammu, Swami Phooldas from Vrindavan, Swami Ram Prakash Das from Punjab, Mahant Surajnath from Himachal Pradesh and Yogiraj Swami Divyanand from Haryana were among the prominent saints who addressed the demonstrators. Acharya Giriraj Kishore and convenor of Sangharsh Samiti Shri Mange Ram Garg were also present.

A memorandum was also presented to the President of India in this regard. The delegation led by Dr Togadia demanded the President that the land be given back to the Board, autonomous status of the board be restored, Governor of the state be called back and strict action be taken against those who are pro-Pakistan and burnt the Indian tri-colour. Meanwhile, seven delegations of Shri Amarnath Yatra Sangharsh Samiti from all parliamentary constituencies of J&K met their respective Members of Parliament on August 7 and handed over them a memorandum with the four-point demand to solve the issue.

The issue of Amarnath shrine land continued to agitate the common people. Leading Hindi poet Surendra Sharma was forced to apologise from the nation at a Kavi Sammelan organised at Poorva Sanskritik Kendra in Delhi on August 10. While presenting a poem Shri Surendra Sharma had made adverse comments over the agitation going on in Jammu over the land issue. It hurt the sentiments of the audience and majority of them started shouting slogans against Shri Shrama. Finally, the Kavi Sammelan could be restarted only after rendering an apology by Shri Sharma.
