The National Council of Swadeshi Jagran Manch that met in Jamshedpur from May 31 to June 1, said the inflation would be controlled only with the protection of the framers. Expressing concern over the plight of farmers, the meeting demanded the government to make provisions in the budget for organic farming and to promote it. The meeting also demanded a ban on purchase of foodgrains by the big companies. Demanding immediate return of farmers? land acquired for SEZ with sufficient compensation, the meeting said that the SEZ Act 2005 should be repealed immediately. The Council suggested that providing loans to the farmers at 3 per cent rate of interest. The Manch also suggested to promote production of foodgrains, pulses, etc.
