The BJP national president, Shri Rajnath Singh reminded the people of Karnataka that the BJP has fulfilled the promise of giving loans to farmers at the rate of 4 per cent from the co-operative banks. This historic decision was taken by Shri B.S. Yediyurappa who is now the Chief Ministerial candidate of BJP in Karnataka. The senior BJP leader assured the people of Karnataka that if his party voted to power, it would extend the provision of loans to farmers at 4 per cent to commercial banks as well.

BJP demands the Government to increase the quantum of public investment in agriculture and mandate banks to earmark 30 per cent of their total loans for credit to the agriculture sector.

The UPA Government should implement the recommendations of the National Commission on Farmers and assure the farmers of actual cost of production plus 50 per cent over and above this cost as the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for his produce.

Ever since the UPA government has come to power at the Centre, the common man has been forced to deal with miseries on almost all fronts. However, if we have to single out one section of the society that suffered the most during the UPA regime, it is the farmers of the country. This allegation was made by BJP national president Shri Rajnath Singh while addressing the election meetings on the eve of assembly polls in Karnataka.

The BJP is of the candid opinion that the country'seconomic development can succeed only if agriculture is made profitable, if the purchasing power of the farmer and the agriculture workers is substantially increased, if better employment opportunities are created in rural India and by improving the overall living conditions of entire rural India.

Shri Rajnath Singh opined that today the prices of virtually every agriculture input has risen substantially whereas the Minimum Support Prices of most of the agricultural produces have remained either stagnant or even decreased in real terms on account of rising inflation.

The BJP has been fighting fiercely for the legitimate rights of farmers but the Congress led UPA Government is unwilling to comply. The BJP government would increase the MSP of paddy to Rs. 1,100 in Karnataka if it comes to power, Shri Rajnath Singh announced.

BJP seeks a mandate for development and is against betrayal Shri Singh added.

During the recent months the people of Karnataka had a glimpse of certain political parties, which not only justified betrayal and oportunitism in the name of power politics but also validated blackmailing as an integral part of coalition politics. These shameless acts have further worsened the crisis of credibility that has plagued the country'spolitical scenario for many years, Shri Singh said.

?We are however satisfied that the BJP had fulfilled its commitments towards the dharma of coalition. The BJP has been ditched but the BJP never took any step that may have led to a breach of trust. I am confident that the BJP will emerge victorious in these assembly elections as the people of Karnataka are ready to reject the politics of betrayal and gross opportunitism practised by the Congress and its fraternity of so called secular parties?, Shri Singh added.

BJP a natural choice for good governance
?I proudly believe that if any political party in India can deliver on all the fronts including good governance, it has to be the Bharatiya Janata Party. I have no hesitation in saying that the BJP is a natural choice for voters when they vote on the issue of good governance?, added BJP president in Karnataka election meetings.

He said that during the NDA regime India emerged as an IT giant with Bangalore as its hub. BJP ruled states are the top rankers when it comes to implementation of Central welfare schemes like NREG.

He further added that the much acclaimed growth rate of the UPA Government will give you a different picture if state wise figures are taken into consideration.

The states ruled by the BJP or the NDA have a much higher growth rate than the states ruled by the Congress or UPA constituents, Shri Rajnath claimed.

?Gujarat is a state, which BJP ruled for 12 years. When people analyse the 12 years of BJP rule in Gujarat with 30 years of CPM rule in West Bengal or15 years of RJD rule in Bihar or with 10 years of Congress rule in Madhya Pradesh, they find a stark contrast between the Governments run by other parties and by the BJP?, he added.

Shri Rajnath Singh appealed to all voters of Karnataka that they should respond to the call of making Karnataka a model state for good governance. He also specially appealed to the youth of Karnataka that they should become the votaries of change and advocates of good governance.
