Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) welcomed the Supreme Court judgment on 27 per cent reservation to OBCs in central educational institutions. ?The ABVP clearly believes that reservation to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Castes was a historical necessity and recognising the social reality it should be implemented within the ambit of the constitutional framework. The ABVP believes that the benefit of the reservation should reach to the needy people and formula of creamy layer should also be implemented. Apart from it, there is a need to review the reservation to ascertain the number of people who received the benefit. Those who have become forward availing the benefit of reservation should be moved out of the ambit of the reservation. The ABVP also believes that only the politicians and the government should not take the decision on the issues like reservations, but the opinion of the people of different sections of the society like educationists, former judges, social activists, members of students organisations, etc. should also be sought,? said Shri Suresh Bhatt, national general secretary of ABVP.
