Sriram Mallikarjuna Rao, Prant Karyavah of Paschim Andhra Pradesh, passed away on February 4 at his house in Chikkadapally. He had been suffering from cancer for the last few months. He is survived by his wife, two sons and one daughter. His elder son Shri Bharat Kumar is presently Vibhag Pracharak of Rajahmundry in East Andhra Pradesh and younger son Shri Sarat Kumar is an active participant of Swadeshi Jagran Manch activities. His was cremated the same day at Amberpet, Hyderabad.

According to Shri T.V. Deshmukh, Prant Sanghachalak, having completed his primary and higher education from Warangal, Mallikarjuna Rao completed his engineering degree from Tumkur in Karnataka. After doing a job at Singareni Collieries for some time, he joined the Irrigation Department of Andhra Pradesh Government and retired as Superintendent Engineer in 2000. He was a swayamsevak right from his childhood. After coming to Bhagyanagar from 1973 onwards he held the responsibilities of Bhagyanagar Sahkaryavah, Nagar Karyavah, Sah Prant Karyavah. He took up the responsibility of Prant Karyavah in 1999 and held this responsibility till he breathed his last. During the Emergency also, he ran the movement by assisting Shri Haldekarji.

Mallikarjuna Rao organised coordination of various Kshetras of the Sangh with great ability. He also monitored various works related to the Rashtriya Vidya Kendras in Hyderabad. A soft-spoken person Shri Mallikarjuna Rao was spiritual minded right from his childhood. He had good relations with all karyakartas. After retirement from the Government service, he had daily contact with the Prant Karyalaya and this lasted till he breathed his last. During the birth centenary of Shri Guruji he held the responsibility of secretary of the Committee. A condolence meeting was held on February 14 in the Sardar Patel Hall of Keshav Memorial School, Narayanaguda in Hyderabad. Sahsarkaryavah Shri Bhaiyaji Joshi also participated in the condolence meeting.
