Andhra Pradesh High Court retired judge and Kshetra Sanghachalak Shri S. Parvata Rao while speaking as the chief guest at the valedictory function of the 26th state conference exhorted the ABVP delegates to become powerful to achieve the objective of united Hindu rashtra amidst mounting problems and ills plaguing the country. He spoke of dangers posed by terrorism, Naxalism and foreign intruders on our soil and asked the students to work with nationalistic spirit and work unitedly to protect Hindu Dharma. He lamented that government is not allotting minimum funds required for basic needs of colleges but spending lavishly for Christian churches. In this programme World Students United Youth Organising general secretary Shri Ramesh Pappa while speaking as main speaker reminded about uncompromising and continuous fight to safeguard student interests and to focus on the problems being faced by them. He reminded that ABVP was founded in 1949 with lofty ideals and became the biggest students union in the country. He said that during 2003, Delhi Chalo programme was conducted and 1.5 lakh students participated in a massive programme in Delhi demanding education to be Indianised. In 1990, ten thousand ABVP volunteers participated in flag-hoisting ceremony in Kashmir with a Chalo Kashmir call throwing a challenge to the terrorists.
In the 26th state level convention, Shri Badrinath, editor of Economics Times while speaking as the chief guest in Gouri Shankar Yuva Puraskar 2008 programme highlighted that India is marching ahead very fast and youth working with vigor, India becoming superpower is not far away. He said changes and reforms in the society are possible only with movements by the students. He said that if India has to become a model country to others, villages have to be developed on par with urban areas in the country.
Shri M. Sunil Reddy recipient of Gouri Shankar Yuva Puraskar 2008 while speaking on the occasion exhorted the students to cultivate the thoughts of providing basic facilities to the rural poor and working for social justice.
Shri K.N. Raghunandan South India Kshetra organising secretary participating as a guest asked the students to emulate the late Shri Gouri Shankarji and dedicate for the good of the country.
Social emanicipation through students? movement
On a topic namely ?Students? movements?A necessity?, ABVP national working committee member Shri Murali Manohar said that on many influential issues, ABVP played a predominant role and on 6th August 1996, six thousand students encircled state secretariat for a cause for the betterment of the student community.
State president Shri P.V. Ramu and others participated in the programme. The meeting came to an end after electing state new executive members.
The 26th state level conference of ABVP was held at Hanumakonda, Warangal District, A.P. on January 4, 2008. Former BJP MP Shri C. Janga Reddy gave a call to youth of India to contribute for building modern India utilising nationalistic thoughts strengthened with ideological spirit and self-confidence.
In this programme ABVP state president Dr. T. Penchalaiah lauded the services of the late Sama Jaganmohan Reddy who worked tirelessly for ABVP and gave his life for national flag with his ideological conviction. South Eastern Kshetra organising secretary Shri Srinivas said that it was due to ABVP'sefforts and sacrifice of lives of 47 members Naxalism has been erased out from the university campuses in A.P.
