The BJP All India vice-president Shri Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi and former Union Minister and BJP All India secretary Shri Vijay Goel has released a report on failures of Smt. Sheila Dikshit'snine years rule. Shri Goel claimed in this 28 page report that the Congress Party has fulfilled none of the promises that were made in its manifesto for 2003 assembly elections. In support of his statement he distributed a list of promises made in the Congress manifesto and openly challenged Chief Minister Smt. Sheila Dikshit to have public debate on the issue. Shri Goel observed that though claims are being made to turn Delhi into Paris but 90 per cent of Delhi is in a miserable condition leaving apart the glitters of New Delhi. The privatisation of the electricity is a big scandal and even today power-cut remains for hours. The Government itself has given big advertisements asking public to get their meters checked if they are running fast. It clearly proves that electricity bills are being inflated. No step has been taken to install a new power plant to augment electricity supply in the city. Water situation is worse. Water is not supplied for hours and it is dirty if supplied later. There is an acute shortage of houses in Delhi. The DDA is celebrating its golden jubilee and publishing large advertisement but the same DDA has been spoiling Delhi for last 50 years. Unauthorised colonies are coming up due to DDA'sfailures. The Congress Government has been sleeping over the past nine years and when assembly elections are drawing closer, the Government has started talking of regularisation of unauthorised colonies and set out conditions as if the Government is showering great beneficence. The Congress Party'sMinister at the Centre and the Chief Minister Smt Sheila Dikshit continue to be at daggers drawn. The schools continue to be in bad shape. The teachers are not available in the schools then what to say of teachings. 80 per cent schools suffer lack of furniture. No new college has been opened in the last nine years. The entire Education Department is busy in making public schools in better shape totally forgetting its own schools. There is dearth of hospitals in the city. The government is drawing solace by adding new beds to old hospitals. The blue-line buses are staging dances of death on the roads. So far 115 persons have lost their lives in blue-line accidents. Shri Goel sarcastically observed that this government has its own achievements. It has opened wine shops at places. The bars would continue to be opened till 12 midnight in Delhi and women would serve as bar tenders in wine pubs. Shri Goel asked, would Delhi become a world class city this way?  (FOC)
