Vidya Bharati, the world'slargest educational organisation, organised its 19 national sports meet (Athletics and Judo) in New Delhi on November 26 to commemorate the birth centenary of Shri Guruji, the second Sarsanghachalak of RSS. The meet was inaugurated at Chhatrasal Stadium. Sardar Navjot Singh Sidhu, cricketer-turned-MP, was the chief guest. Shri Satpal, chairman of SGFI, was the special guest. Prof. Vijay Kumar Malhotra, MP, Kshetriya Pracharak Shri Dinesh Chandra and Shri S.R. Shende also graced the occasion.

After the inauguration, the athletes lighted the torch and took a pledge. The special attraction of the programme was welcome of 700 winners from 11 different regions of the country. All the participating sportspersons marched through the stadium with flags in their hands. The stadium was beautifully decorated with colourful flags, banners, posters and flowers. Well-decorated gates were giving an impression of a grand festival.

The main attraction of the programme was yoga presentation by nearly 10,000 students on the musical notes of the song: Shat naman Madhav charan mein. The yoga participants from different Vidya Bharati schools were beautifully dressed up in track suits of different bright hues and colours?saffron, green, blue and yellow?to mark the onset of the spring season, which was highly acclaimed and applauded by the audience.

Stressing that healthy spirit resides in a healthy body, Shri Navjot Singh Sidhu applauded the views and ideology of Shri Guruji. ?If spirit is healthy, heart, mind and life are healthy. The all-around development of the children depends on their health,? he added. The crispy anchoring of the students echoed the whole stadium with loud applaud by the audience. Swami Raghvanand, president of Shri Guruji Birth Centenary Celebration Committee, Delhi Pradesh, presided over the inaugural ceremony.  (FOC)
