Releasing the DVDs of Karmayogi, a 110-minute docu-dram based on the life of second RSS Sarsanghachalak Shri Guruji, and Sewa Disha, a documentary film on service activities being undertaken by swayamsevaks, former Prime Minister Shri Atal Behari Vajpayee said both the films would throw a new light on the life of Shri Guruji and also on the Sangh work. He stressed the need to show both the films across the country so that people can understand the Sangh work closely.
The premier of the film Karmayogi was held in Delhi on August 15, in which Sarsanghachalak Shri K.S. Sudarshan and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Shri L.K. Advani were present. Karmayogi has been directed by noted film and TV personality Shri Nitish Bhardwaj while Sewa Disha has been directed by a leading documentary director Shri Arjun Bhagat. The DVD of Karmayogi has been priced at Rs 100 while that of Sewa Disha at Rs. 50.
Shri Vajpayee said he had got an opportunity to work and stay with Shri Guruji for more than two decades and it was the personality of Shri Guruji that inspired thousands of youth to dedicate their life to the nation. ?After the premier of the film in New Delhi some time back, the need of some amendments was realised in the film. It is now after some addition and deletion that the final DVDs have been released today. It is good effort on the part of Shri Nitish Bhardwaj and Shri Arjun Bhagat,? Shri Vajpayee added.
Besides educationists, politicians, bureaucrats and leading personalities of Delhi, prominent among those who were present on the occasion included RSS Sahsarkaryavah Shri Madan Das, BJP president Shri Rajnath Singh, former BJP president Shri M. Venkaih Naidu, president of Shri Guruji Birth Centenary Celebration Committee, Delhi, Swami Raghwananda, Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Shri Jaswant Singh, former Governor of Goa Shri Kidarnath Sahani, former Chairman of National Commission for Minorities Sardar Tarlochan Singh, former Chief Minister of Delhi Shri Madan Lal Khurana and former Lt. Governor of Delhi Shri Vijay Kapoor.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Madan Das said for Shri Guruji the society was god and he dedicated himself completely to its service. ?Never expecting publicity for his work, he developed thousands of workers like him. Like Dr Hedgewar, Shri Guruji did two important works?man-making and expansion of the Sangh as a national organisation. He sent workers in every sphere of social life. It is due to the karmayog of Shri Guruji that crores of people today are influenced with the Sangh work,? Shri Madan Das said, further adding that Shri Guruji exhorted all swayamsevaks to come forward to extend a helping hand in every problem of the country.
Dr Bajrang Lal Gupt, national secretary of Shri Guruji Birth Centenary Celebration Committee, said both the films were part of the efforts being carried out by the RSS to apprise the countrymen with the work and views of Shri Guruji during the birth centenary year. He said without showing the service activities of swayamsevaks, the life-sketch of Shri Guruji remains incomplete. This is the reason a separate DVD on service activities has been prepared separately.
Sewa Disha, a 45-minute documentary, has been produced by India Project. It highlights the service activities undertaken by the RSS activists in various parts of the country in various fields like education, healthcare, disaster management, etc. It takes the viewers to various corners of the country and brings them face-to-face with the organisers and beneficiaries of these projects and their experiences. It also beautifully interweaves the mission and vision of the RSS leaders in launching a massive campaign for service.
Karmayogi, produced by Shri Guruji Birth Centenary Celebration Committee, is a product of a 10-month research and critically analyses various significant events in the life of the nation during the tenure of Shri Guruji as RSS Sarsanghachalak and the contribution of RSS during those times. It discusses the role of RSS in general and that of Shri Guruji in particular during the Quit India Movement of 1942, Partition of the country, murder of Gandhiji and the subsequent ban on RSS, the three wars that India had fought against China and Pakistan, etc. in a gripping manner with the help of a meticulous research. It has actors, music, songs, etc. like any other movie, yet is novel in the sense as it runs like a documentary also.
Swami Raghwananda while proposing a vote of thanks said the films would boost the contact drive being carried out all over the country and would also remove various misconceptions about the Sangh.
