An old swayamsevak and former All India President of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad Shri Padmanabh Acharya was felicitated in Mumbai recently on his 75th birthday. Presently Shri Acharya is All India President of Minority Cell of BJP and is also looking after party elections in Kerala and Karnataka. At a simple ceremony, he was greeted by well-wishers in Mumbai on October 8. The function was headed by Shri Madandas, Sahsarkaryavah, RSS, and Shri Vedprakash Goel, ex-Union Minister and present MP of Rajya Sabha. The function was also addressed by Prof Bal Apte, MP and All India Vice President, BJP, Shri Ram Naik, former Union Minister, Advocate and senior BJP leader Shri Arun Sathe, Shri Madhu Deolekar, ex-MLC, Mumbai, Dr Nishigandha Mogal, ex-MLC and former Maharashtra State President, Women Wing of BJP, Dr Madhav Paralkar and many others.

In his small speech, Shri Madandas said Shri Acharya'scontribution towards bringing Vanvasi students of the north-eastern states, namely Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Nagaland, Mizoram and hills of Assam to various places in India through ?Students experience in inter-state living? and ?My home is India? projects of ABVP helped in all ways to understand and experience the unity of our country. These ABVP projects started by Shri Acharya in 1965 received tremendous support form all sections in these states and soon picked up momentum. During last 40 years, a number of youth leaders, participated in this programme from these border states, were inspired to work hard for the betterment of our country. The real patriotism was brought in the Vanvasi life, which helped in many ways. This initial credit goes to Shri Acharya for his restless efforts in connecting and also strengthening these border areas to mainstream of the country. His multifarious activities and specially projects and programmes (as an ABVP activist) brought ABVP as a youth force at all-India level. His Mumbai University senate tenure for 30 long years was also remembered by educationists and eminent persons in industry and trade connected to Mumbai University activities.

Shri Acharya has been working for BJP since last 25 years and shouldered various responsibilities in the party. He is a dedicated, sincere and most intelligent worker of the Sangh Parivar.

Shri Ram Mantri, Educationist and Founder Member of Shri Vidya Nidhi Educational Trust, which runs number of schools and colleges in Mumbai, also praised Shri Acharya for his association with the Institution as a Chairman. Shri Arun Deo, ex-Deputy Mayor and Leader of Mumbai BJP, proposed a vote of thanks. Many institutions and individuals greeted Shri Padmanabh Acharya and Smt Kavita Acharya and wished them a peaceful and healthy life.
