“We need to understand the RSS with the feeling of our heart. The Sangh cannot be understood only on the basis of logic. I also need to understand it regularly, as weakness may strike a human being any time,? said RSS Sarkaryavah Shri Mohan Bhagwat. He was speaking at a symposium held in New Delhi on ?Shri Guruji and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh? on October 7.
Highlighting the personality of Shri Guruji, he said Shri Guruji was an extraordinary person. ?When we think about the Sangh and Shri Guruji we cannot segregate both. He was a good analyst and helping others was his nature. He ruled the hearts of swayamsevaks. He had termed the service to society as a kind of sadhna,? Shri Bhagwat said.
He made it clear that the Sangh work is not against any religion, faith, community or any ideology. ?It is the sanatan view of this land and is based on the conclusions of the great personalities,? he said. He added that the security and prestige of the society is not possible without public awareness. The RSS Sarkaryavah said the Sangh looks at the politics through the glass of patriotism. ?Politics is also part of the society but it does not produce desired results. The experience of the last 60 years proves it,? he said.
Shri Bhagwat said the fate of the country would not change through political leaders. ?Today we do not need rajniti (politics) but rashtraniti (national policy). Therefore man-making is important and the Sangh has been doing it for the last 80 years. We want a strong and harmonized Hindu society,? he said pointing out that over 32 organisations inspired by the Sangh have not only been doing this work, but also running more than 70,000 service projects across the country.
Shri Bhagwat also answered the queries of the audience. The issues which were raised include six years? rule of NDA government and its relations with the Sangh, control of RSS over the government, ideology of RSS?its propagation and distance with the media, RSS-inspired organisations, concept of Hindu and Hindutva, consumerist life-style, liberalisation, the reach of RSS among deprived sections of the society, propaganda by media against RSS, reservation, change in school curriculum, secularism and minorityism, etc.
Prof. Kapil Kapoor, former pro-vice chancellor of JNU, Shriram Oberoi of Delhi University, Shri O.P. Kohli of Indraprastha University, retired professor of NCERT Prof. Rajendra Dikshit, Prof. Makhanlal and various other professors and educationists, belonging to various institutions of Delhi participated in the discussion.
Addressing a separate meeting of software engineers, Shri Bhagwat called upon the professionals to earn as much money they want but they should think about making the society strong. More than 150 software engineers had participated in the meeting. Referring to differences between the Indian and western economic thinking, he said the western thinking thinks only about money and sex. ?The objective of those people is to collect maximum facilities for their individual life. The society has no importance for them. On the other hand, the Indian view of economic leads one to moksha (salvation).
Later, addressing a gathering of scientists, Shri Bhagwat called upon the scientists of the country to give up the craze for going abroad and show courage to struggle in their own country. He said India is an emerging world power and the responsibility of making her more effective lies on the scientists. Therefore the brain drain must stop.
