In what language does Satiricus scream? There are two answers to this question. No. 1: He does not scream at all, because he is too timid to scream at anybody. No. 2: Were he to scream at all, he would not be able to say in what language he was screaming. More importantly, anyone hearing the sound of the scream would not know the language of the scream. Why? Because, Satiricus would here thought, it is humanly impossible? And that is the crux of the problem. For what is impossible for humans, is apparently more than possible for birds, especially Chinese birds. Recently China imported a US-made ?scream machine? to scare away birds at Beijing airport, but what happened? The machine had recorded the screams of American birds, but? local (Chinese) birds did not understand the foreign language,? reported a Chinese newspaper, and so were not scared away. To solve the problem, Chinese experts ?translated? the American screams into Chinese. So the next time Satiricus'sshoe pinches him so hard that he howls, he must remember to howl in his mother-tongue, or at least in some Indian language. But will that exclude English? Not necessarily. For only the other day, when someone spoke to Soniaji in Italian, she proudly told him??speak English, we are Indians.?
