Noted historian and author Shri Ram Sathe passed away in Hyderabad on September 21. He was 86. Born in 1920 in Satara district of Maharashtra, he had his early education at Wai. After doing B.Sc. from Bombay University (1942), he became a Sangh pracharak. With his uncommon organising skills, he rapidly spread Sangh activities first in Bombay and then in Andhra Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. Apart from possessing intellectual acumen, he had an innate passion for details, which has been responsible for the objectivity in him. During 1981-1996, he actively associated himself with Bharatiya Itihas Sankalana Yojana and authored over 15 books. Notable among them are: Search for the year of Bharat war, Is Sandrakottas Chandragupta Maurya?, Date of Mahabharat War-the Problem, Date of Buddha, Aryans-Who were they?, European secularism-Mother of Miscomprehensions, etc. Most of his works were translated into various Indian languages. In 1996, he formed Bharatiya Sanskriti Prachar Samiti in Hyderabad. The Samiti so far has published 12 books in Hindi, 10 in Telugu, 8 in English and 3 in Marathi and a map ?Ancient Civilisations before Christ?. In 1998, he was awarded the prestigious Dr V.S.
