Rambhau Mahlgi Prabodhini gets special consultative status of UN

The United Nations Economic and Social Council has granted special consultative status to Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini (RMP), a reputed NGO registered in Mumbai. The Committee of Non Governmental Organisations of UN had earlier recommended the name of the RMP for this special status.

The decision of granting special status was approved in the current session of the United Nations, which took place between January 19 to 27, 2006. While granting the RMP, the United Nations Economic and Social Council recognised it as a national organisation based in India, empowering grass root development activities like strengthening democracy and voluntary social works.

Shri Pramod Mahajan heads this trust and Shri Vinay Sahasrabuddhe is the executive director general of the organisation. The RMP had deputed Shri Bibek Maitra, director international wing to cover the proceedings of the UN and take part in its presentation to the United Nations. Shri Pramod Mahajan, president of Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini has thanked the United Nations Economic and Social Council for granting the special consultative status and for recognising it as a partner organisation of the UN.
