How much people outside India are devoted to Hanuman was witnessed at Leicester in England recently when for the first time a 1008 Kundliya Mahayajna was held. Devotees of Hanuman from Germany, Netherlands, Switzerland, Kenya, Canada and America participated in the yajna. Swami Satyamitranand Giri, founder of Bharat Mata temple, Haridwar was the inspirer of the event. Over 30,000 devotees from the cities of Birmingham, Notthingham, South Hampton, Manchester, Bredford, Leads, etc. assembled at the historic Abbey Park to listen to Swami Satyamitranand Giri and other leading saints from India. Mayor of Leicester, Sir Peter Soulsby, MP, Keith Vaz and the Bishop of Leicester were among the local prominent personalities who attended the function.

Speaking at the function MP Keith Vaz praised Swami Satyamitranand Giri and said the Hindus of Britain had been listening to Swamiji for the last 30 years and it had developed a unique spiritual atmosphere among them. Bishop, Church of Leicester, said the yajna performed by Swamiji would develop social harmony in the city. He said the Indian culture provides inspiration of living with harmony.

In his message, Swami Satyamitranand called upon the Hindus of England and other countries to preserve their traditions and also apprise the whole world of the glory of Hinduism. He said the service of mankind and Hinduism was the same. ?Yajna enriches the environment and purifies the universal atmosphere. The sacred intonations create powerful waves, which negate noise pollution. Yajna causes formation of societies and such holy congregations produce noble thought waves which in turn benefit the entire humanity,? he said. Besides Swami Satyamitranand Giri, Acharya Kishore Vyas, Mahamandaleshwar Swami Hansdas, Swami Avadheshanand Giri and Swami Chidanand Saraswati Muni also participated in the yajna. Dr Shankarrao Tatvavadi, senior Sangh Pracharak, was also present at the yajna.

Various Hindu organisations including Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh, UK, Satya Sai Organisation, Shri Swaminarayan Hindu Mission (BAPS), Sri Vedamata Gayatri Parivar, Hindu Youth, UK, Vishwa Hindu Parishad and all other temples provided support to the event.
