15th National Convention of Rashtra Sevika Samiti in Nagpur
No empowerment without power?Swami Ramdev
FOC

THE year-long birth centenary celebration of Lakshmibai Kelkar, the founder of Rashtra Sevika Samiti, concluded in Nagpur on November 8 with Samiti's15th national convention. More than 10,000 Sevikas across the country participated in the three-day convention, which was inaugurated by renowned Yogacharaya Swami Ramdev in the presence of RSS Sarsanghachalak Shri K.S. Sudarshan. An exhibition highlighting the countrywide activities of the Samiti was also inaugurated on November 5.

Speaking on the occasion, Swami Ramdev called upon women to enhance their power so much that the whole world would bow before the greatness of Bharat. ?Then we shall neither have to beg from the UN, nor have to ask for reservation for women. Our own strength should be our sambal (power). Women need to increase their power so much that it automatically becomes necessary for everyone to pay attention to them,? he said.

Terming the convention as historic, Shri K.S. Sudarshan said it is the biggest convention in the history of the Samiti. He said the Samiti'swork grows like the Narmada river, which appear very narrow at the place of its origin but becomes gigantic when it joins the sea. ?The soul of Vandaniya Mausiji must be feeling good seeing this magnificent work of the Samiti today. A look at the Samiti'swork indicates that India would shine all over the world by the year 2011,? he said adding that Mausiji Kelkar started the work of infusing qualities of Goddesses Saraswati, Lakshmi and Durga into women. Shri Sudarshan expressed satisfaction over the work of the Samiti.

On the second day of the convention, the Sevikas took out pathsanchalans in Nagpur in the morning and two processions in the evening. The first procession began from Chitnis Park where Smt. Sumitra Mahajan inaugurated it by lighting the traditional lamp. The second procession began from the Smriti Mandir premises, Reshimbagh, where Smt. Vasundhara Raje, Chief Minister of Rajasthan, hoisted the Samiti'sflag. Both the processions culminated at the Smirit Mandir. Prominent among those who welcomed the processions were Smt. Jayavantiben Mehta, Smt Sushma Swaraj, Smt. Maya Singh, Sadhvi Ritambhara, Smt. Neera Shastri, Dr Poornima Advani, Smt. Meenakshi Peshwe, Smt. Geeta Munde and Smt Pratibha Naithani. A seminar was also organised on Future of India-2020. The concluding ceremony was addressed by Smt. Dolma Gairy, Deputy Speaker of Tibetan Parliament in exile.
