Sangh Samachar Asim Kumar Mitra honoured with N.B. Lele Memorial Award

SENIOR Journalist of Kokata, SHri Asim Kumar Mitra, was honoured with the prestigious N.B. Lele Memorial Journalism Award in Mumbai recently. The Award cconsists of a cheque of Rs. 51, 000, a shawl, a cocnut and a memento. SMt Nila Upadye was honoured with Tara Pandya Memorial WOman Journalism Award of Rs. 25,000 while Shri Bohan Bane was honoured with a photography award of Rs. 21, 000. Shri Utaam Malla and Shri Dinesh Kanji were honoured with a vlour in journalism award.

The function was organised to celebrate the birth centenary of the founder of Hindusthan Samachar, a multi-lingual news agency, and founder general secretary of VHP, Dada Saheb Apte. Speaking on the occasion, Shri Ashok Singhal, VHP president, said a section of media was trying to hit at the soul of the country. He said the number of nationalist journalists was very limited in journalism. ?Only sensational and criminal news are given prominence in newspapers and TV channels. This tendency needs to be curbed and the journalists with nationalist outlook should work without fear,? he said. Talking about the arrest of Kanchi Shankaracharya, he said the kind of news were aired about the top Hindu saints, insulted the whole Hindu society. He further said the media was misguiding the new generation of the country. He expressed confidence that Hindusthan Samachar would continue to produce nationalist journalists.

The function was presided over by Justice A.B. Palkar. Dr Bharat Aggrawal, executive editor of Dainik Bhaskar, was chief guest at the function. Acharya Kishore Vyas released a souvenir on Dada Saheb Apte at the function.
