A three-day state-level science fair was organised by Vidya Vikas Samiti, Jharkhand at Rajkamal Vidya Mandir in Dhanbad from December 10 to 12. About 600 students drawn from 45 schools of the state impressed the jury and experts with their knowledge of science and fluent oratory skills. The objective of the fair was to develop rational thinking and inculcate scientific temper among the school children. Models of various scientific methods for water conservation and proper utilisation of natural resources were put up at the fair. A quiz competition based on Vedic mathematics was also organised where the young brains braved all kinds of questions in a marathon session. In all, 175 models were presented. Shri S.D. Chaudhary, retired general manger of Coal India Ltd., Shri Shailendra Singh, Prof. S.K. Aggarwal, B.B. Sharma. S.S. Roy, S.C. Jha, Kaushalya Tewari, H.N. Sharma were the judges at the competitions. In the shishu category, R.S. Boys School, Dhanbad, R.S. Girls School, Dhanbad and S.V.M., Deonagar won the first, second and third positions respectively. In the bal group, the first three positions were bagged by R.S. Girls School, Dhanbad, R.S. Boys School, Dhanbad and S.V. M. School, Patratu Themal; while in the kishore category, the R.S. Girls School, Dhanbad, R.S. Boys School, Dhanbad and S.V.M. Sindri bagged the first three prizes.
