The Orissa unit of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) staged a demonstration before the office of administrator of the Utkal University demanding publication of the academic calendar in the beginning of the session and application of corrective measures on conduct of examinations as well as announcement of results. “Academic atmosphere of the university is deteriorating,” said the ABVP state secretary, Govinda Nayak, who led the demonstration. Student leaders also demanded early publication of the academic calendar for current academic session, holding of all examinations from February to April every year and announcement of results within 30 days of the completion of examinations. They also wanted the administrator to take corrective steps in the examination results as large-scale errors had been detected in the result sheets of students, putting them to inconveniencies. The administrator, Arun Samantray, assured the students that their demands would be immediately attended to.
