Sadhvi Ritambhara, the firebrand leader of Ramjanma-bhoomi movement, who has been engaged in awakening the Hindu society for almost one and a half decades was attacked by Muslim miscreants when she was returning from Jamakhind village of Bagalkote district in Karnataka. She was returning after addressing a massive Hindu Sammelan organised by the local unit of Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal on February 28. The State VHP unit observed State bandh on March 2 in protest against the attack. All business institutions of Bagalkote remained closed on February 29. VHP activists also presented a memorandum to the district authorities on March 3.
According to reports received from the state, after addressing a public meeting of more than one lakh people, Didi Man, as Sadhvi Ritambhra is popularly known, was returning, when a crowd of Muslim miscreants waiting for the attack, stoned her car. Didi Ma was injured in the stoning. Apart from other injuries, her left shoulder was fractured. A police team of more than 60 constables including officers, which was posted just 20 metres away from the incident, stood standing as spectators. This shows the involvement of the local administration in the attack. Meanwhile in Delhi, Acharya Giriraj Kishore, senior Vice President of VHP, strongly condemned the incident and urged the Karnataka Government to punish the miscreants. (FOC)
