Indraprastha (New Delhi): The two-day meeting of the Kendriya Margdarshak Mandal of the Vishva Hindu Parishad commenced on December 9 at 3 pm in Punjabi Bagh, Indraprastha (Delhi). Addressing the inaugural session, which began under the chairmanship of Jyotish Peethadheeshwar Jagadguru Shankaracharya Pujya Swami Vasudevanand Saraswati Ji Maharaj, VHP International President Alok Kumar spoke about the challenges before Hindu society and urged the revered sants to guide society on the following points:

• Liberation of Hindu temples from government control.
• Effective measures to curb the rising incidents of religious conversions across the country.
• Uniform implementation of the Freedom of Religion Act throughout the nation.
• Rising jihadi mindset, extremism, and violent incidents in the country.
• Growing social problems in border regions and campaigns against drug abuse.
• All Hindus should write their religion as ‘Hindu’ in the upcoming census.

Akhil Bharatiya Sant Samiti General Secretary Pujya Swami Jitendranand Saraswati Ji said that some groups today are daring to justify jihad and a terrorist mindset. The tendency to support the accused in the Delhi terror attack is extremely worrying. He demanded that the Parliament enact strict and effective laws. He also emphasised the need to free temples from government acquisition and the necessity of a population control law.

Sants who arrived from Bengal expressed concern over the grave situation in the state, saying that the jihadi statements being publicly made by extremists, along with threats and atrocities against Hindus, are not only a warning for Bengal but for the entire nation.

Sudhanshu Ji Maharaj, while referring to the 500 years of penance and struggle for the construction of the Ram Mandir, said that Bharat’s real energy lies in our sants and sanskritik traditions. Today, it is necessary to strengthen gurukuls, priest traditions, ashrams, and sanskar centers, and for the Sanatan society to organise itself for its sanskritik strength.

The meeting saw the presence of Pujya Jagadguru Swami Ram Kamalacharya Ji, Atal Peethadheeshwar Pujya Swami Vishwatmanand Saraswati Ji Maharaj, Acharya Mahamandaleshwar Pujya Swami Vishokanand Ji Maharaj, Pujya Swami Vivekanand Ji Maharaj, Gita Manishi Gyananand Ji Maharaj, Akhil Bharatiya Sant Samiti General Secretary Pujya Swami Jitendranand Saraswati Ji Maharaj, VHP Vice President Shri Omprakash Singhal, Patron  Dinesh Chandra, Joint General Secretary Vinayak Rao, Central Minister Shri Ashok Tiwari, and many revered sants and VHP office-bearers from across the country.
