Sehrawat’s journey to the top of the podium is a testament to personal fortitude. Tragic loss struck early when he lost both his parents at the age of 11. Finding purpose and focus in wrestling, he joined Delhi’s iconic Chhatrasal Stadium—drawing inspiration from Olympic medalist Sushil Kumar—where coach Lalit Kumar mentored him and refined his technique.

A rapid ascent to global success

Sehrawat’s competitive record reflects a steady rise across international ranks:

2022: Became the first Indian wrestler to secure gold at the U23 World Wrestling Championships in Spain.
2023: Won the gold medal at the Asian Wrestling Championships in Kazakhstan and earned a bronze at the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games.
2024: Claimed bronze at the Paris Olympics after defeating Puerto Rico’s Darian Cruz, becoming the youngest Indian athlete (aged 21 years and 24 days) to win an individual Olympic medal. His achievements were recognized with the Arjuna Award, India’s second-highest sports honor.

With his latest triumph at the 2026 Asian Games, Sehrawat continues to establish himself as a global force in freestyle wrestling.
