Incidents involving religious conversion, deception, sexual exploitation, blackmail, abduction and pressure on Hindu women and girls continued to be reported during the week from September 1 to September 7, 2026. The cases covered in this weekly report span Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh and other locations, along with incidents reported from Pakistan and the United Kingdom.
Several of the cases involve allegations that Hindu women or girls were approached through relationships or personal contact and subsequently faced pressure to convert. In some cases, the allegations include concealed religious identity, promises of marriage, sexual exploitation, threats, harassment or blackmail. Other cases involve allegations concerning minor Hindu girls who were lured away and taken from their families.
The incidents also include cases in which women that private photographs or videos were used for blackmail, including allegations of pressure to enter prostitution or convert. Police action, including registration of FIRs, arrests, investigations and court proceedings, has been reported in several of the cases. In one case from Pakistan, a court ordered that a Hindu woman who had been abducted and pressured to convert and marry be handed over to her family.
The reported cases further include allegations of forced conversion within marriage, harassment, threats and polygamy, as well as an religious conversion network in Uttar Pradesh that resulted in action under the Gangsters Act. A case from London also concerns a Sikh woman from Amritsar whose family that she had been influenced to convert and change her name.
A Hindu BBA student residing in the Rawatpur area of Kanpur has accused a Hafiz and another woman of pressuring her to convert and repeatedly threatening her. The student was living at her maternal grandparents’ home while pursuing her studies.
According to the student’s complaint, the Hafiz and a local woman who was in contact with him were repeatedly pressuring her to adopt Islam. She that she was threatened with serious consequences whenever she opposed the pressure.
The student further that the accused had placed some suspicious persons behind her, leaving her extremely frightened and feeling unsafe. Due to the continued threats and an atmosphere of intimidation, she was forced to discontinue her BBA studies midway.
The student submitted a written complaint at the Rawatpur police station, seeking justice and strict action against the accused. Police have begun investigating the matter on the basis of the complaint and stated that further legal action would be taken based on the facts that emerge during the investigation.
A Sikh woman originally from Amritsar, who went to London around two years ago for higher education, has become a victim of a relationship and religious conversion plot after coming into contact with a Muslim taxi driver of Pakistani origin. The accused taxi driver, who is reportedly already married twice, brainwashed the woman, converted her religion and changed her name to ‘Aira’.
The woman had reportedly not responded to calls from her parents for the past month. Concerned about her whereabouts, the family sought help from members of the local Sikh community and friends in London.
While searching for the woman, members of the community reached the accused’s residence and knocked on the door. A woman present inside reportedly called out to the Sikh woman by the name ‘Aira’. During questioning, the woman told her family that she wanted to maintain distance from them.
The concerned family has appealed to the Central Government, Sikh organisations in Britain and local Gurudwara committees to help bring their daughter safely back to India so that she can be rescued.
Uwais alias Lalla, a resident of the Sadar Bazar police station area in Shahjahanpur, has been accused of luring a minor Hindu girl and taking her away. Members of the Hindu Raksha Dal reportedly spotted the accused and the minor girl moving around under suspicious circumstances near Tilhar Mandi, following which they apprehended them and handed them over to Tilhar police.
Considering the seriousness of the matter, both were handed over to Sadar Bazar police. During the investigation, the girl was confirmed to be a minor. On the complaint of her family, police registered an FIR against Uwais under the relevant sections.
Police subsequently arrested the accused at around 4 pm on September 5 near Subhashnagar Tiraha. He was produced before the court and subsequently sent to jail.
A video related to the incident had also circulated on social media. Police are taking further legal action on the basis of the video.
In Kanpur’s Bajaria area, a man identified as Shoaib befriended a college student by introducing himself as Ankit and maintained a physical relationship with her for three years on the promise of marriage. After marrying the woman at an Arya Samaj ceremony in April 2018, she reportedly discovered that the accused’s real name was Shoaib and that he was already married and had a child.
The woman that the accused subsequently forced her to convert and began assaulting her after consuming alcohol. Troubled by the harassment, she began living separately from him in 2021. However, she that the accused continued to follow her.
In March 2026, the accused reached her workplace and created a disturbance, following which she lost her job. After the accused threatened to kill her by throwing acid on her, the woman filed a complaint at the Bajaria police station.
Police have registered a case based on her complaint and are taking further action.
A Hindu woman police constable posted in Ahmedabad’s Gomtipur police station area has accused Majid Khan Pathan (Chauhan), a married man from Patan in North Gujarat, of concealing his marital status and trapping her by claiming to be unmarried.
The accused promised to marry the woman and repeatedly sexually assaulted her. He also lured her with promises of high returns on investments in the share market and cheated her of approximately ₹17 lakh.
The woman further that the accused repeatedly pressured her to convert, leave her government job and subjected her to harassment on religious grounds. After she learned about his identity and began distancing herself from him, he misbehaved with her and broke her mobile phone at a railway station.
Based on the woman’s complaint, Gomtipur police registered a case against the accused under various sections, including provisions related to sexual assault, cheating and the SC/ST Act, and initiated further legal proceedings.
A 21-year-old Hindu woman, identified as Rita, a resident of Sanghar district in Pakistan’s Sindh province, was abducted from her home by unidentified persons. The accused reportedly took her to Gujranwala in Punjab province, where she was pressured to accept Islam and marry a Muslim man named Nazir Hussain, who was already married.
After the woman’s brother filed a complaint and CCTV footage emerged, police took action, recovered the woman and produced her before a Judicial Magistrate.
During the proceedings, a police officer requested that the woman be sent to a government shelter home, Dar-ul-Aman. However, the woman expressed her wish to return home with her brother.
After recording her statement on the basis of an affidavit, the court ordered that she be handed over to her brother and family.
In the Cantonment police station area of Varanasi, a Muslim man identified as Mohd Faiz developed a close relationship with a Hindu woman aged around 20 and recorded obscene videos and photographs of her without her consent.
The accused began blackmailing the woman by threatening to circulate the objectionable videos and photographs on social media. He used the material to put considerable pressure on her to engage in prostitution and convert.
When the woman refused, the accused assaulted her and threatened to kill her. Following her complaint, Varanasi police registered an FIR under various serious provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Act.
Police subsequently arrested Mohd Faiz and are conducting a detailed investigation into the case.
Police in Gonda’s Rupaidiha police station area arrested Rizwan alias Jeetu Khan in connection with the abduction of a minor Hindu girl after luring her away.
Based on a complaint submitted by the girl’s father at the police station, police registered an FIR and began searching for the accused.
A police team formed under the leadership of Station Officer Shashi Kumar Rana conducted a search operation and arrested Rizwan near the railway bridge underpass at Belwa Road, Paidi Bara.
The accused was produced before the court following his arrest and was subsequently sent to judicial custody.
Police have taken legal action against individuals accused of involvement in an illegal religious conversion network and other suspicious activities in the Charthawal police station area of Muzaffarnagar district, Uttar Pradesh.
The police administration registered a case under the Gangsters Act against an accused involved in carrying out illegal religious conversions as part of a gang and creating enmity in society.
Charthawal police conducted a raid and arrested the wanted accused. Police are investigating the accused’s associates, their bank accounts and possible sources of funding. The police are also searching for other suspects linked to the network.
Siripuri Bala Ramya, a resident of Jagannadhapuram, filed a complaint with Kakinada District Superintendent of Police G. Bindu Madhav against her husband, Ghouse Mohiuddin, alleging forced religious conversion and physical harassment.
The woman married Ghouse Mohiuddin eight years ago against the wishes of her family. She that after the marriage, the accused forcibly converted her and changed her name to Sheikh Umul Khair.
The woman further that the accused not only deceived her but had also trapped five other Hindu women and was living with them.
She returned to her parental home after the harassment continued even after the birth of their daughter. The accused reached her parental home and threatened to kill her and her family.
According to the complaint, the accused had previously been a rowdy-sheet holder in connection with a case involving the harassment of another young woman and was recently sent to remand following a complaint by another girl.
After the accused was sent to jail, the woman gathered the courage to approach the Superintendent of Police, seeking protection and strict legal action against him.
The 10 cases documented in this weekly report involve allegations ranging from pressure for religious conversion and concealed identity to abduction, sexual exploitation, blackmail, harassment, threats and involvement in religious conversion networks. The incidents were reported across different locations and involved women and girls of different ages and circumstances.
The cases also highlight allegations in which personal relationships, marriage promises, social contact and threats were cited in complaints. Other allegations concerned the use of private photographs and videos for blackmail and pressure, while cases involving minor girls resulted in police searches, arrests and judicial custody.
Taken together, the 10 incidents show the range of allegations reported during the period from September 1 to September 7, 2026, and the legal and police proceedings initiated in response to them. The cases remain subject to investigation and, where applicable, further judicial proceedings.
