Kerala Local Body Poll Results: Shashi Tharoor welcomes BJP victory in Thiruvananthapuram, hails vibrant democracy

Congress leader Shashi Tharoor MP commented that the BJP’s victory in Thiruvananthapuram is remarkable. He said this in his social media post immediately after the Local Self Government bodies election results were announced. He said in his post that he congratulated the BJP with humility and politeness. He said the BJP’s victory marks a remarkable shift in the political scenario of the capital city.

The Congress Working Committee member said that he had campaigned against the wrong policies of the 45-year-long LDF rule in Thiruvananthapuram. However, voters gave the mandate to another party that sought a clear change in governance. That, he said, is the beauty of democracy.

He said the people’s mandate should be respected, whether it reflects the generally pro-UDF (Congress-led United Democratic Front) trend or the BJP’s victory in his own corporation division. He assured that the Congress would do its level best for the prosperity of Kerala and would stand for the welfare of the people.

Shashi Tharoor said that the electoral results are strong signals ahead of the imminent Assembly elections. He congratulated the UDF for its electoral gains in the Local Self Government bodies. Tharoor’s words on the BJP victory mark another significant move from him. Over the last few months, he has maintained a pro-Modi stand, drawing the ire of the Congress leadership.
