New Delhi: National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Sunday raided multiple locations across two districts of Bihar in connection with separate cases on November 30.

Officials of the agency reportedly picked up two people and grilled them for hours after conducting simultaneous raids at three locations in Bihar’s East Champaran district on early Sunday morning.

According to details, the raids were conducted at Uchidih, Aarara and Koyla Belwa villages in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The raids were reportedly conducted in connection with cyber fraud, money laundering and counterfeit currency case investigated by the agency.

The officials raided the house of Narayan Pathak of Koyla Belwa village under the jurisdiction of Chakia police station limits at around 4.30 in the morning. Here, the crackdown lasted for around 4 hours.

The sleuths of the agency later grilled Dhiraj Tiwari, a resident of Nepal and son-in law of Narayan Pathak.

As per reports, Tiwari is accused of obtaining Aadhaar Card and residential certificate by fraudulent means. The officials have also found transaction of a huge sum of money from the account of Tiwari’s deceased wife Priyanka.

In Uchidih village of Harpur, the official raided the house of Jitendra Sahni while simultaneous raid was also conducted at Badari Sahni’s house in Aarara village under Adapur police station limits.

NIA raids house of retired postal official in Khagaria

Meanwhile a separate team of NIA raided the house of a retired postal department official in Khagaria district. The raid started in the wee hours of Sunday at Saidpur village under the jurisdiction of Mansi police station and continued for around 5 hours.

As per reports, the house raided by the NIA belonged to Abdul Hadi, a retired branch postmaster. Although the officials did not disclose about the case in connection with which the raid was conducted, sources said that the team was investigating the car explosion case that occurred near red fort on November 10.

“We are decent people and were aghast when the NIA sleuths entered our house in the early hours. We are clueless why they came here. No member of my family has ever been involved in any type of police case,” said Hadi.

“The entire house was ransacked. Every nook and corner was scanned with the help of metal detectors. Mobile phones were checked by the raiding team. Female members of the family are distraught, ” he claimed.
