Based on intelligence about terrorist presence in Naner Midoora, a joint team comprising Awantipora Police, the 42 Rashtriya Rifles, and the 180 Battalion of the CRPF launched a cordon-and-search operation in the area.

During the operation, security forces apprehended a terror associate identified as Nazir Ahmed Ganai, son of Abdul Aziz Ganai and a resident of Ganai Mohalla Nanar. He is reported to be linked to the banned outfit JeM.

During sustained questioning, Ganai revealed the location of a terrorist hideout situated in orchards owned by him. Security forces subsequently located and dismantled the hideout. From the site, officials recovered two hand grenades, a detonator and explosive-like material, all of which have been sent for further analysis. The hideout was demolished on the spot in the presence of an Executive Magistrate, in accordance with protocol.

Police stated that the arrested associate had been actively providing logistical support to JeM terrorists and aiding in the movement of arms and ammunition across the Tral and Awantipora areas.

A case has been registered at Police Station Awantipora, and an investigation is ongoing. Awantipora Police reiterated their commitment to dismantling the terror network and maintaining peace and security in the region.
