New Delhi: The Pavitra [sacred] ‘Jore Sahib,’ a pair of footwear belonging to Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the last of the 10 Sikh Gurus and his wife Mata Sahib Kaur Ji will be taken from New Delhi to Patna Sahib in Bihar where the relics will be placed permanently.
The sacred relics will be taken to Patna Sahib, the birth place of Guru Gobind Singh as part of the “Charan Suhawe- Guru Charan Yatra” which will commence from Gurudwara Moti Bagh Sahib on October 23 and traverse through various cities before concluding at Takht Sri Patna Sahib on November 1.
The Yatra will traverse through Agra on October 24, Bareilly on October 25 before entering Lucknow on October 27 from where it will move to Kanpur on October 28 and reach Prayagraj on October 29.
It will enter Bihar and proceed to Sasaram via Varanasi on October 30, before reaching Gurudwara Guru Ka Bagh at Patna on October 31. The relics will be then taken to Takht Sri Patna Sahib on November 1, marking the conclusion of the Yatra.
Urging people to have darshan [glimpses] of the sacred Jore Sahib, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 22 wishes that the Yatra deepens people’s connection with the noble ideas of Guru Gobind Singh and Mata Sahib Kaur.
“May the Guru Charan Yatra deepen our connect with the noble ideals of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji and Mata Sahib Kaur Ji. I urge people in the areas this yatra will cover to come and have Darshan of the holy ‘Jore Sahib’,” PM Modi said in a post on X.

Notably the sacred relics have been preserved by Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri’s family for over 300 years. Earlier the Union Minister and his family handed over the sacred Jore Sahib to Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee. The relics was granted to one of the ancestors of the Union Minister who served the revered Guru of the Sikh tradition.

Taking to X, the Union Minister wrote “For the past 300 years, my family has had the opportunity to serve the sacred ‘Jore Sahib’. The spirit of service and unity of the Sangat connects us to the light of Gurus that has been guiding out path for centuries.”

The sacred Yatra is expected to draw a large number of devotees as it will provide them an opportunity to have a glimpse of the Jore Sahib. Preparation are also on to organise special programs by local Gurudwaras on the occasion.
