Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the Kaushal Deekshant Samaroh at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi on October 4, unveiled a series of visionary and ambitious initiatives with the intention of empowering the youth of Bihar. The focus is on skill development, upgradation of the higher education ecosystem, imparting industry-related training and rendering adequate financial assistance.
During the event, PM Modi also attacked the opposition party of Bihar, RJD, for keeping the state and its youth in educational and economic backwardness. He said lack of vision and the policy failure of the RJD government was the cause for the large-scale migration from the state.
Prime Minister also hailed the NDA government of Bihar under the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for lifting Bihar out of darkness and pouring in socio-economic development in the state. “It is rather difficult to restore a tree whose roots are rotting, and this was the state of Bihar during the RJD rule; but the NDA government in the state worked to rescue the state and brought a turnaround,” PM Modi said.
New Skill University for Bihar
Prime Minister inaugurated the Jan Nayak Karpoori Thakur Skill University, envisioned to offer industry-focused courses and vocational education. The university is focused to create a globally competitive workforce. Apparently, Bharat Ratna Jananayak Karpoori Thakur was the man who dedicated his life for public service and imparting education to the disadvantaged sections of the society. Prime Minister thus promised that the university will work to fulfil the vision of Jananayak Karpoori.
PM Modi also spoke about the modernization of various educational institutions across Bihar, including IIT Patna, Bhupendra Mandal University, Jai Prakash University in Chhapra and Nalanda Open University. Additionally, Central Government has given nod for opening new Kendriya Vidyalayas in 19 districts of Bihar.
Reducing the financial burden for the students of Bihar
Prime Minister Modi also reiterated that the Bihar government led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar aims to reduce the financial burden of the students of Bihar. The redesigned ‘Mukhyamantri Nishchay Svyam Sahayata Bhatta Yojana’ will provide nearly five lakh graduates an allowance of Rs 1,000 per month for two years along with free skill training.
Under the Bihar Student Credit Card Scheme interest-free loans of up to Rs 4 lakh will be provided thus easing the burden of higher education. Prime Minister announced that student scholarships have been increased from ₹1,800 to ₹3,600.
Employment opportunities for Bihar youth
Prime Minister also highlighted how employment prospects have been improved for the youth of Bihar under the NDA government. He said that in the recent year nearly 10 lakh government jobs have been given to the youth of Bihar. He also stressed on the large-scale recruitment that is underway in the Education Department of Bihar. In last two years, more than 2.5 lakh teachers have been appointed in Bihar and this not just gives employment, but also improves the quality of education in the state.
PM Modi exclaimed that the aim of the NDA government is to create twice as many employment opportunities in the next five years as were generated over the past two decades. Prime Minister ultimately asserted the development and prosperity of Bihar is of paramount importance to the government and will continue to strive in that direction.
