The Union has reiterated its commitment to sustained dialogue on Ladakh’s issues, affirming that discussions with the Apex Body Leh (ABL) and the Kargil Democratic Alliance (KDA) remain open at any time.
In a strong statement of intent, the Government said it would continue engaging with the two representative bodies through the High-Powered Committee (HPC) on Ladakh or any other suitable platform, emphasizing that dialogue has already delivered tangible results.
The ongoing engagement, according to the Union, has led to significant outcomes for Ladakhis: enhanced reservation benefits for Scheduled Tribes in the Union Territory, introduction of women’s reservation in the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Councils (LAHDCs), and protection measures for local languages. Additionally, recruitment for 1,800 government posts has already been initiated in the UT, marking a major step towards employment generation.
Expressing confidence in the process, the Government underlined that continuous dialogue with ABL and KDA would pave the way for further progress in addressing Ladakh’s aspirations. “We are confident that continuous dialogue would yield the desired results in near future,” the statement added.
