The life of the current Prime Minister of India, Narendra Damodardas Modi, is a wonderful example of struggle, self-confidence, vision and national service. Born on September 17, 1950, in a simple family in Vadnagar, Gujarat, Narendra Modi began his life with struggles. Rising from a simple background to the top post of the world’s largest democratic system is the result of his extraordinary talent and hard work.

On September 17, 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi of India will turn 75 years old. This is not just the birthday of a leader, but a symbol of the journey of modern India, in which a person rising from a humble background becomes the architect of the nation’s transformation. Narendra Modi’s life is a wonderful confluence of struggle, hard work, nationalism and vision. This occasion is not only a celebration of a person’s birthday but also a testament to India’s self-confidence, development, and change.

From struggles to the top

Narendra Modi’s childhood was spent in hardships and deprivations. His father used to sell tea at the railway station, and Narendra Modi himself would help with this work during his adolescence. But these hardships became the reason for improving his morale rather than breaking it.

By joining the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, he learnt the culture of discipline, organisation and service. This training is also evident in his political life, whether it involves strengthening the organisation or engaging directly with the public. Despite living in poor conditions in his childhood, Narendra Modi shaped himself with education and discipline. As a pracharak of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, he developed organisational capacity. After this, he created a unique identity for himself by working within the organisation of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Gujarat Model: From a state to a nation

While working in the BJP organisation, Narendra Modi became the Chief Minister of Gujarat in 2001. For 13 years, he took Gujarat to new heights of development. During his tenure as Chief Minister of Gujarat (2001–2014), he transformed the state into a leading one in the fields of industry, agriculture, and infrastructure. He started the ‘Vibrant Gujarat’ summits for industrial investment. He made Gujarat a leader in the country in the field of infrastructure and electricity. He brought a new revolution in agriculture by bringing Narmada water to dry areas like Kutch. His development model of Gujarat made him popular and credible at the national level.

2014: Beginning of a new era

In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP got an absolute majority and Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister of the country. After taking the oath as the Prime Minister in 2014, he gave the mantra of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas’, which provided direction to governance by transforming mere announcements into tangible results. In 2019, he won the election with an even bigger majority, proving that the public trusts his leadership and work. In the 2024 elections, he became the Prime Minister of India for the third consecutive time, setting a new record as the most continuously elected Prime Minister in independent India. He initiated programs such as Make in India, Startup India, Digital India, and GST in the economic sector. He implemented schemes such as the Swachh Bharat Mission, Ujjwala Yojana, Ayushman Bharat, and Jan Dhan Accounts in the social sector. For national security, Modi ji boosted the morale of the Indian forces and gave a message to the whole world about his tough policy against terrorism through surgical strikes, air strikes and Operation Sindoor. He added new dimensions to India’s credibility on the international stage. He highlighted its role on the world stage, notably through its successful presidency of the G-20, its stance on climate change, and its voice as a representative of the Global South.
