RSS Sah Sarkaryavah Dr. Krishna Gopal stated in Kaladi that the sustainable development of the entire world can be achieved through the Bhagavad Gita alone. “Samabhavana Darshan is Bharat’s philosophy,” he said, while inaugurating the “Geetayanam” national seminar at Sree Sarada Sainik School in Kaladi, the birthplace of Adi Shankaracharya, on August 31.
He observed that when nations around the world aim solely at material development, disharmony prevails. “What we see across the globe is a society in disharmony, a society caught in perplexity like Arjun in the Gita,” he remarked.
Dr Krishna Gopal further said that every shloka (verse) of the Bhagavad Gita is a counsel of Spiritual Science, which other wealthy nations lack. Today, the rigorous spiritual science that teaches ‘Ishwarah Sarvabhootanaam’ is gaining acceptance across the world.
Dr K Sivaprasad, Vice-Chancellor of APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University, presided over the event. R. Sanjayan, Director of Bharatiya Vichara Kendram, the Kerala chapter of Prajna Pravah, delivered the introductory address.
In his inaugural remarks, Dr. Sivaprasad stated that the international relevance of the Bhagavad Gita grows by the day. He recalled how years ago, Kerala’s then Chief Minister and veteran CPM leader E.K. Nayanar presented a copy of the Gita to the Pope during his visit to the Vatican. “It is a text of Bharatiya philosophy that transcends time and politics,” he said.
R Sanjayan noted that a day would come when the world accepts Bharat’s philosophy, and propagating the ideas of the Gita is a step in that direction. He also announced that an International Gita Seminar would be organised in 2026 in Thiruvananthapuram.
Swami Brahmaparananda, head of the Kaladi Sreeramakrishna Advaita Ashram, Thiruvananthapuram, also spoke. He said the Gita teaches the value of sacrifice, serving as a guiding light for the times ahead and a perennial treasure of wisdom for the future.
Bharatiya Vichara Kendram General Secretary K.C. Sudheerbabu welcomed the gathering, and Programme Committee Convener Dr. Archana Sreenivas proposed the vote of thanks.
The Kaladi programme marked the curtain-raiser of the Silver Jubilee celebrations of the International Gita Seminar, first organised in 2000 under the auspices of the Bhagavad Gita Swadhyaya Samiti. The initiative, launched for the propagation of Bhagavad Gita philosophy, was led by the veteran RSS Pracharak, author, philosopher and orator, P Parameshwar ji. The Kaladi event signals the beginning of state-wide celebrations that will continue until December 2025.
