Minta Devi, a resident of Bihar’s Siwan district, has come forward with a strong response against opposition MPs who used her name and photo on T-shirts during a demonstration in New Delhi on August 12. The protest, led by Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and others, spotlighted alleged errors in the Election Commission’s voter rolls, including the shocking claim that Minta Devi was recorded as a 124-year-old voter.
The 35-year-old Minta, whose Aadhaar card correctly states her birthdate as July 15, 1990, expressed bewilderment and amusement at the absurd age listing. “Who gave Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi the right to use my face and name on their T-shirts? What do they have to do with me?” she questioned in an exclusive conversation with ANI.

Minta clarified that while discrepancies exist in the voter list, she should not be blamed for administrative errors. She urged officials to correct her details, adding in jest, “If the government thinks I’m 124 years old, then they should start giving me an old-age pension.”
According to the Election Commission, Minta’s incorrect age was a clerical mistake, and the Siwan district administration confirmed that remedial action was already underway. The booth-level officer contacted her on August 10 to initiate corrections, which will be addressed during the claims and objections phase of the special intensive revision of electoral rolls.
Speaking about her long wait to exercise her franchise, Minta said, “I’m thrilled that I might finally get a chance to vote at 35. Many elections passed without my name on the list. If the EC has made me a grandma by mistake, it’s fine, I have nothing to fear.”
