Raipur: Incidents pertaining to attempt of illegal conversion are keep coming to fore in Chhattisgarh. In the latest episode, two separate incidents related to promotion of conversion related activities triggered major protest from local Hindu activists in Chhattisgarh’s Bilaspur and Dhamtari districts on June 29.
In the first incident surfaced from Dhamtari’s Tikarapara area, local Hindu activists staged a strong protest in front of an impermanent prayer hall, alleging attempts of illegal conversion.
Upon receiving information about the gathering aimed allegedly at enticing people for conversion, a large number of local Hindu activists gathered near the said impermanent prayer hall, staging a strong protest against the prayer ceremony.
The activists alleged that attempts are being made to convert local Hindus in guise of organising ‘Changai Sabha’. The activists also resorted to sloganeering and recited Hanuman Chalisa Paath on the spot.
They further demanded strict action against those enticing locals for converting their religion through inducement tactics, warning the administration for a major protest in case of inaction.
The authorities on the other hand swiftly arrived on the spot and calmed the protestors assuring them a thorough investigation into the matter.
Row erupts over organising religious gathering in Bilaspur
Meanwhile, a major row erupted over alleged attempts of illegal conversion in Bilaspur’s Torwa area on June 29. According to the details, local Hindu activists stage a major protest against the members of Christian community over organising a religious gathering at a prayer hall in Kewatpara area under the jurisdiction of Torwa police station limits on Sunday.
Hundreds of Hindu activists later gathered near the Torwa police station, demanding action against those promoting conversion related activities in the area.
The incident occurred when local Hindu activists reached outside of a private premise in the Kewatpara area, where a religious prayer ceremony was being organised. The activists claimed that conversion related activities are being promoted under the guise of organising such religious prayer ceremonies.
The protest by the Hindu activists led to a confrontation between both the groups, attracting heated verbal exchange between both the parties. Members of both the groups later gathered near the Torwa police station lodging complaints against each other subsequently.
According to reports, while the Hindu activists alleged illegal conversion related activities being promoted from the said premise, the members of the Christian community have accused the activists for forcibly barging into the place and creating a ruckus. The matter is currently being investigated by the authorities.
