Dhaka: Bangladesh National Hindu Mohajot organised a human chain and protest rally in front of the National Press Club in Dhaka today on June 27 organised a huge protest against the illegal destruction, vandalism and looting of Sri Sri Durga Temple and murtis in Dhaka’s Khilkhet and the attack on Paresh Chandra Shil and Vishnupada Shil on the pretext of so-called religious insult.

The Hindu protesters said that after the demands of the fundamentalist Islamist, the police and army in Khilkhet, Dhaka, destroyed the Sri Sri Durga temple and murtsi with bulldozers, vandalised all furniture and murtis of the temple and looted all the properties and belongings of the sacred temple and took them them away in trucks.

Moreover, In the Lalmonirhat area, Paresh Chandra Shil and Vishnupada Shil were attacked and arrested in a false case on the pretext of so-called insult to religion. There is a mosque, madrasa and offices of several political parties on railway land next to the temple. But nothing was touched by the authorities. Only the Hindu temple was destroyed by the government on the demand of fundamentalist Islamist in the Khilkhet area.

The police and army have shown extreme communalism by destroying only Hindu temples and murtis in the railway land. Hindu hatred has taken an extreme form in the country. The lives of Hindus have become miserable, alleged the Hindu Mohajot leaders who participated in the protest.  A few days ago, 18 Hindu houses, shops, motorcycles, furniture and food were burnt to ashes in Jessore.

There have been attacks and false cases in various places on the pretext of insulting religion. The government and the administration are completely following the instructions  of fundamentalist Islamist. Instead of arresting the violent mob who attacked Hindus in Lalmonirhat, they have arrested the victims of the attack who were injured. In the last two months, incidents of Hindu persecution across the country have broken all past records. Every day, incidents like vandalism of houses of the Hindu community, land grabbing, murder, attempted murder, kidnapping, torture of women, arrest in false cases, and threats to force them to leave the country are happening one after another in some part of the country.

The speakers said that the land where the temple was located is the property of Bhawal Raja Rajendra Narayan Roy Chowdhury. The Railways occupied it without paying any compensation. Therefore, the Hindu temple was not illegal rather it was on Hindu property. The Railways and the administration did not stop at just destroying the temples and murtis. They have utterly disrespected the murtis by breaking them, tying them with ropes, loading them into trucks and dumping them at unknown locations, thereby committing extreme religious insults. Despite the fact that his video footage is in the hands of the intelligence and administration, including social media, the Railway Advisor has made a statement by uttering extreme lies that the Hindu community has abandoned their murtis.

The protester demanded that all illegally occupied Hindu temple lands and temple sites across the country, including the illegal occupants, must be evicted and returned to the Hindus within the next 7 days. Otherwise, a large-scale movement will be launched across the country. At the same time, they said that if the encroachment of all the temple sites in the country is not vacated within 7 days, then under this fundamentalist communal government, the Hindu community will not go to any polling station, will not participate in any vote, and will boycott all types of votes, the protesters said.

Hindu Mohajot President Adv. Dinabandhu Roy, Executive President Adv. Pradeep Kumar Pal, Chief Coordinator Bijoy Krishna Bhattacharya, Secretary General Advocate Govinda Chandra Pramanik, and other Hindu Mohajot leaders participated in the protest.
