Operation Sindoor: India strikes, Pakistan scrambles to cover up with Fake News

In a decisive move against terror, India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7, targeting Jaish-e-Mohammed, Hizbul Mujahideen, and Lashkar-e-Taiba camps in Pakistan-controlled territory. The precision strikes left Pakistan scrambling to respond, resorting to a flurry of misinformation and false claims

Operation Sindoor: India’s Precision Strike Unleashes Chaos in Pakistani Media

FacebookTwitterWhatsAppTelegramEmail

In the early hours of May 7, India launched a precision strike against terror camps situated in Pakistan-controlled territory. Dubbed ‘Operation Sindoor,’ the attack targeted high-value terror installations operated by Jaish-e-Mohammed, Hizbul Mujahideen, and Lashkar-e-Taiba in Bahawalpur, Muridke, and Muzaffarabad. Indian forces deployed missiles to eliminate the camps, delivering a decisive blow to the terror infrastructure.

Pakistan’s Response: A Flurry of Fake News

The strikes left the Pakistani establishment reeling. In a desperate attempt to control the narrative, Pakistan-linked media channels and official social media accounts began circulating misinformation, attempting to project retaliatory actions that never occurred.

One of the most prominent false claims was that Pakistani forces had struck the Srinagar Airport. Social media accounts circulated a video allegedly showing the aftermath of the strike. However, fact-checkers quickly revealed that the footage was actually from sectarian clashes in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in 2024, bearing no connection to the recent events.

Contradictory Statements from Pakistan’s Defence Minister

Amidst the chaos, Pakistan’s Defence Minister became a key source of misinformation. Initially, he claimed that Pakistan had taken three Indian soldiers prisoner during the night. Shortly thereafter, he retracted his statement, admitting there was no evidence to support his claim. He then alleged that Indian soldiers were abandoning their posts, but once again failed to present any credible proof.

Exaggerated Claims from Media Personalities

One of the more comical reactions came from Hamid Mir, a leading Pakistani journalist. In a series of tweets, Mir claimed that Pakistan had downed multiple Indian Air Force jets, with the number rising progressively from two to six within minutes. His final assertion, claiming six jets were shot down, was quickly debunked as no evidence surfaced to substantiate his statements.

Imaginary Missile Strikes Inside India

Adding to the barrage of disinformation, several social media posts from Pakistani accounts claimed that missile strikes had targeted 15 locations inside India. Some went as far as to suggest that an Indian Army Brigade Headquarters had been destroyed. As of now, no credible sources have reported any such attacks, and Indian officials have categorically denied these claims.

Indian Response: Clarity and Confidence

While misinformation flooded the digital space, Indian authorities maintained a composed and consistent stance. Officials confirmed that all personnel involved in Operation Sindoor were safe and unharmed. The strike, which aimed at dismantling terror networks in Pakistan, was deemed a success.

Amidst the fog of war and a flurry of fabricated narratives from Pakistan, Indian forces have remained steadfast. As always, the truth stands resilient against the tide of propaganda.
