Patna: Tension simmering in Saran’s Ishuapur area after a clash broke out between members of two communities over a dispute related to some money matter, said police on April 28.

According to preliminary information, a dispute broke out after a fruit-seller identified as Shahivaan Ansari allegedly refused to refund the change money to two persons namely Nitish Kumar Singh and Amrendra Prasad at Mohammadpur village under the jurisdiction of Ishuapur police station limits.

Amrendra in his complaint has reportedly accused Ansari for passing derogatory remarks on the recent Pahalgam terror attack (where Hindu tourists were targeted and killed by terrorists). The initial confrontation escalated soon after both Kumar and Prasad were attacked allegedly by a group of people with attackers also snatching gold chains and cash from the duo.

The police however have denied about the alleged remarks made by Ansari on Pahalgam terror attack and maintained that the scuffle was broke out over dispute related to the refund of change money only.

Learning about the altercation, a police team swiftly reached the spot and took control of the situation. Inhibitory action has also been taken against as many as 10 people from both the communities while additional deployment of security personnel was made to prevent further escalation of tension between the two groups.

A case against 8 named individuals and 20-25 unknown persons has been lodged in connection with the altercation and the matter is further being investigated by the police.

“A dispute broke out between two groups over money related matter at Ishuapur market leading to a minor clash. Acting on swiftly, Ishuapur police controlled the situation by dispersing the mob from the spot. An FIR is being lodged into the matter on the basis of the statements of the police officials, said SP (rural) Shikhar Choudhary.

A few anti-social elements are trying to link the incident with the Kashmir terror attack and giving it communal angle. There is no truth in it, we are identifying such anti-social elements, action will be taken against them,” he added.
