Acadamics with values, family and social responsibility are the core essentials of Bharatiya centric education, to uphold or teach these values Sri Vidyaranya International School (SVIS) in Bandlaguda Jagir, in Hyderabad has come up with a unique program where parents bring the food to their children at school and feed them.
On 23 April, around 500 parents carried home food to their children and served during the lunch, which was shared by students with their friends, a memorable event for the child and parents that will imprint in their lives forever and carries the bond and message of family responsibilities for both child and parents.
By sharing and eating the food brought by all the mothers, they conveyed that all of us are one universal family (Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam). Feeding the food they brought, bite by bite, to their children, they strengthened the bond.
Speaking with ‘Organiser’, the Principal Dr Bhaskara Bhattla Krishnamohan expressed gratitude to the management, parents, staff, and well-wishers who participated in this.
He added that this initative was conceptualised after observing the students were getting the outside or hotel food in their carriages and sometimes, food delivery outlets dropping the ordered food for children. We found this deviating practise that could affect the health of children as well as weaken the love for home made food.
This programme was supervised by executive committee members Dr. Umamaheshwara Rao, Lingam Sudhakar Reddy, Pasarthi Mallayya, and Krishnamohan of SVIS.
Sri Vidyaranya International School is established by Vidya Bharathi, Akhil Bharatiya Shiksha Sansthan (VB) — the largest non-profit organisation in the field of education in India.
