In a shocking incident that has gripped the region, the granddaughter of BJP MLA Ramakanta Deuri was abducted by a group of individuals, sparking widespread concern. The case took a significant turn on March 17 night when the prime accused, Armanur Rahman, was arrested from Sorupothar following a coordinated police operation.

The abduction, which sent ripples across Morigaon, was reported by the victim’s family in an FIR filed at the Morigaon Sadar Police Station. According to the complaint, the young woman was forcibly taken by a group of individuals. The case, registered under number 78/25, includes serious charges under Sections 140(3) and 111(2)(B) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS).

In a swift response, law enforcement agencies launched a massive investigation, leading to the arrest of four individuals, including a 17-year-old girl. While the Juvenile Court granted bail to the minor, the other accused—Bhabhajit Medhi, Fizulat Rahman, and Abinash Thakuria Rahman—remain in police custody. Armanur Rahman, the alleged mastermind behind the abduction, was arrested after an intensive search operation. Notably, his father, Fizulat Rahman, was among those detained earlier in the investigation.

The victim was successfully rescued thanks to the collaborative efforts of the Morigaon Police, Guwahati City Police, and Golaghat Police. Their prompt action and efficient coordination have been widely praised, bringing relief to the victim’s family and the local community.

The abduction has sparked outrage among residents, with many calling for stricter security measures to ensure the safety of women and vulnerable individuals in the region. The incident has also highlighted the need for increased vigilance and community awareness to prevent such crimes in the future.

As the investigation continues, authorities are working to uncover further details about the abduction and the involvement of the accused. The case has drawn significant attention, with the public eagerly awaiting justice for the victim and her family.

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the challenges faced in ensuring safety and security in the region. The swift action by law enforcement, however, offers hope for a safer future.
