The Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) has strongly condemned the recent violence in Nagpur, allegedly orchestrated by a section of the Muslim community. The organisation has demanded strict action against those responsible for spreading rumors, inciting violence, and attacking members of the Hindu community, including Bajrang Dal workers.
VHP’s Central Organisation General Secretary, Milind Parande, issued a statement criticising the violence and arson that took place in Nagpur, Maharashtra. He asserted that the attacks on Hindu homes, including those of Bajrang Dal members, were completely unacceptable, and even women were not spared. “It is extremely shameful that false rumors were spread about the burning of religious verses, leading to despicable attempts to incite violence,” he stated. He urged authorities to take immediate and strict action against all such “anti-social jihadi elements.”

In addition to calling for a crackdown on the perpetrators of violence, the VHP has reiterated its long-standing demand to stop the glorification of Aurangzeb’s grave in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj Nagar. Instead, the organisation has proposed the construction of a Vijay Smarak (Victory Memorial) in honor of Dhanaji Jadhav, Santaji Ghorpade, and Chhatrapati Rajaram Maharaj, who played a crucial role in resisting Aurangzeb’s forces.
Parande emphasised that the legacy of the Maratha Empire should be upheld with a Vijay Stambh (Victory Pillar) to commemorate the defeat of Aurangzeb. He urged the government to take immediate action in this regard, ensuring that no attempts are made to preserve or glorify Aurangzeb’s burial site.
