The assault, occurred on March 11 during the Panoor Poyilur Muthappan Madappura festival.
According to the First Information Report (FIR), the accused stopped Shaju and his friends, issuing death threats before launching a violent assault. He was struck on the head with a machete and on the hands with an iron rod, leaving him seriously injured.
