Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has secured a landslide victory in the Delhi Assembly Elections 2025, decisively ending the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)’s decade-long rule in the national capital. The results mark a significant political realignment in Delhi, where the BJP has struggled for years to form a government despite its dominance at the national level.

As the final results poured in, BJP offices across Delhi erupted in celebrations. Party workers flooded the streets, waving saffron flags, bursting firecrackers, and chanting victory slogans. The BJP headquarters transformed into a sea of saffron, as thousands of jubilant supporters gathered to witness what they hailed as the dawn of a new era for Delhi.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accompanied by senior BJP leaders including Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP National President JP Nadda, arrived at the party headquarters to address the enthusiastic crowd. The leaders described the resounding victory as a “historic mandate for development, stability, and good governance.”

PM Modi’s Powerful Address: “Delhi is Free from AAP-da”

Stepping onto the stage amid thunderous applause, PM Modi began his speech with an emphatic chant of “Yamuna Maiya ki Jai”, invoking the spiritual and cultural significance of Delhi. With a firm voice, he declared that the people of Delhi were experiencing two emotions—relief from misgovernance and hope for a better future under the BJP.

“I had written a letter to every Delhi resident, asking them to give the BJP a chance to serve in the 21st century. Today, I bow my head in gratitude to every family in Delhi for trusting us with this responsibility. You have showered us with love, and I assure you that we will return it manifold through rapid development,” he said.

Taking a sharp swipe at AAP’s governance, he coined a term that quickly resonated with the crowd—”AAP-da” (a play on the Hindi word for disaster, “aapda”).

“Delhiites have freed themselves from ‘AAP-da’ today. This mandate is not just an electoral result—it is a decisive message that the people of Delhi reject chaos, deception, and arrogance in governance. Delhi wants progress, not propaganda,” he added.

‘Victory of Development, Vision, and Trust’

PM Modi framed the BJP’s triumph as a victory of vision over short-term populism and a mandate for governance rooted in trust and performance.

“This is not just a win for the BJP, but a win for the spirit of Delhi, for the hard-working middle class, for every family that suffered due to broken promises. The people of Delhi have rejected empty slogans and chosen real change,” he stated.

Addressing party workers, he credited them for tirelessly working towards the victory: “This victory belongs to every BJP karyakarta who walked the streets, knocked on doors, and spread our message of development. Today, every saffron flag raised in Delhi represents a pledge—to serve, to build, and to transform the city,” he declared.

Stinging Attack on AAP: ‘Politics of Deceit Rejected’

The Prime Minister did not hold back in his criticism of the Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP government, accusing it of indulging in shortcuts, lies, and deceptive politics that ultimately led to its downfall.

“For years, Delhi was held hostage by a government that cared more about advertisements than actual governance. They mastered the art of blame-game politics but failed to deliver on their promises. Today, the people of Delhi have sent a strong message—governance must be about service, not self-interest,” he said.

Reiterating that the real power in a democracy lies with the people, he added: “This victory is proof that no matter how much propaganda is spread, truth will always triumph. The people of Delhi have chosen transparency, accountability, and development over deception and excuses.”

‘Delhi is a Mini India, and It Has Chosen Change’

PM Modi also underscored the diverse and cosmopolitan nature of Delhi, calling it a ‘Mini Hindustan’ that represents every part of the country.

“Delhi is not just a city; it is the beating heart of India. It is home to people from every state, every culture, every tradition. Today, this vibrant and diverse Delhi has given a decisive mandate for change,” he said.

He reminded the crowd that the BJP had consistently fought for Delhi’s development and had delivered on several key projects in infrastructure, healthcare, and public services.

“Delhi has never let me down, and today, history has been made. This city has once again proven that it values real work over false promises,” he said, urging party leaders and workers to dedicate themselves to fulfilling every promise made during the campaign.

Delhi Assembly Election Results 2025: A Decisive Verdict

The final tally of the 2025 Delhi Assembly Elections painted a clear picture of the electorate’s mood:

  • BJP secured 48 seats, marking a massive resurgence in Delhi after years of struggle.
  • AAP was reduced to just 22 seats, a stark contrast to its sweeping victories in 2015 and 2020.
  • Congress, once the dominant force in Delhi’s politics, failed to open its account yet again, registering a third consecutive zero-seat performance in the assembly polls.

The defeat was particularly humiliating for AAP’s top leadership, as former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia lost their seats. The verdict came just months after the BJP’s sweeping victories in the Maharashtra Assembly Elections and Haryana Assembly Elections, further consolidating the party’s dominance in national politics.

‘Modi’s Guarantee’ and the Road Ahead

PM Modi concluded his speech by reassuring the people of Delhi that their trust would be honored with hard work and commitment.

“I thank every Delhiite who believed in ‘Modi’s Guarantee’. You have placed your faith in us, and we will not disappoint you. Our goal is clear—Delhi’s progress, its prosperity, and its transformation into a world-class city. Together, we will make it happen,” he declared, as chants of “Modi, Modi” filled the air.

With the BJP now set to form the government in Delhi after 25 years, the focus will shift to governance and fulfilling the promises made during the campaign. The victory not only reshapes Delhi’s political landscape but also strengthens the BJP’s position ahead of the 2026 Lok Sabha Elections.

As fireworks lit up the night sky and party workers danced in the streets, one message was clear—Delhi had chosen change, and the BJP was ready to deliver.
